STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Markel Brown and Le'Bryan Nash scored 16 points each as Oklahoma State held off UC Davis 73-65 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Phil Forte hit three big shots in the second half and finished with 13 points for the Cowboys, who shot 40 percent from the field. Jean-Paul Olukemi added 10 points for OSU. Freshman Marcus Smart had eight points and seven assists.
UC Davis led 51-48 with 12:20 to play, and the game was tied 61-61 with 5:10 remaining. Forte hit a 3-pointer to put OSU up 66-61 and drained another key field goal to make it 70-65 with two minutes remaining.
