NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Buddy Hield scored 20 points to lead Oklahoma to a 96-82 victory over Mercer on Monday.
Monty Brown led the Bears (5-4) with 16 points. Sophomore Phillip Leonard came off the bench to post 12 points in the defeat. He was 7-for-9 from the free throw line.
Oklahoma put the game away in the second half when Hield led them on an 18-0 run. The sophomore guard scored 11 points during a four minute span and Mercer was unable to recover.
Mercer entered the game allowing only 73 points per game and holding opponents to 40 percent shooting. Oklahoma shot 30-for-59 on the night.
