The Edmonton Oilers recalled goalie Ilya Bryzgalov from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League on Sunday.
The Oilers play Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and Bryzgalov could make his first start in that game against former Philadelphia Flyers teammate Sergei Bobrovsky.
Bryzgalov, 33, signed a one-year $2 million contract on Friday and played two games for the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League. Bryzgalov went 1-1 with a 3.03 goals-against average and.880 save percentage in the two games.
Bryzgalov played in 40 games for the Flyers last season. He had a 19-17-3 record with a 2.79 goals-against average.
During the offseason, the Flyers bought out the remaining seven years of nine-year, $51 million contract he signed in 2001.
