Oilers, Arcobello agree to extension

The Edmonton Oilers agreed to terms with center Mark Arcobello on a one-year contract extension on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The team also recalled forward Will Acton from Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League.

Arcobello, 25, has four goals, 14 assists and eight penalty minutes over 41 games this season. He scored his first two NHL goals on Nov. 5, including the winner in overtime, against the Florida Panthers.

Arcobello also has 10 goals, 18 assists and a plus-11 rating over 15 games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. He is the Barons' all-time leader with 60 goals, 101 assists, 161 points and 35 playoff points. He is second with 188 games played, behind Chris VandeVelde's 192.

Acton, 26, has three points and 14 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Oilers this season, and 22 points with 69 penalty minutes in 44 games with Oklahoma City.

Earlier in the day, the Oilers signed Western Michigan University defenseman Jordan Oesterle to a two-year, entry-level contract. Financial terms were not released.

Oesterle, 21, has two goals and 15 assists in 34 games this season and seven goals and 27 assists in 113 games over three college seasons. The 6-foot, 185-pounder also led all WMU defensemen with 70 blocks this season. He will report to the Oklahoma City Barons for the remainder of the American Hockey League season.
