Running back Tevin Coleman will likely miss Sunday’s Atlanta Falcons game against the Green Bay Packers, due to a hamstring injury suffered last week. As Atlanta’s second leading rusher and receiver with 564 all-purpose yards, Coleman’s absence will likely be evident. Moving forward, someone else on offense now needs to step up and fill a larger role.

The team made corresponding roster moves, releasing Mike Person and A.J. Hawk, while signing two running backs in Terron Ward and Stevan Ridley. They should both get a few snaps this week but the Atlanta Falcons backfield now belongs solely to Devonta Freeman. It may not be the perfect scenario, but Freeman will be the workhorse for the Falcons while Coleman is healing from injury.

In the receiving game someone will have to play a larger role opposite Julio Jones, who currently leads the NFL with 830 yards receiving. Mohamed Sanu should get more looks and if he’s finally healthy, maybe will begin producing on par to his big time contract.

The tight end position can and should also be utilized more with Coleman out. This group was used more effectively against Seattle with all three tight ends contributing to some extent, including a Levine Toilolo touchdown pass.

The Green Bay defense is predicated on stopping the run, so Matt Ryan and company should be airing it out frequently. Julio Jones will still get plenty of looks and touches, but it will be interesting to see who takes a big leap in this offense on Sunday.
