Oakland Raiders - 2011 Player Awards: Fan Review

As the 2012 version of the Oakland Raiders really starts to come together, I think it's important to also look back at some of the individual accomplishments of last season. Here's a look at the Raiders' 2011 player awards:

    Week 1 - Sebastian Janikowski

Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after he tied the NFL kick record with a 63-yarder while also knocking in three field goals. He also became the first player in NFL history with two 60-plus yard field goals.

    Week 2 - Denarius Moore

In the second week, wide receiver Denarius Moore was selected as the Pepsi Rookie of the Week via fan voting. Even though the Raiders lost to the Buffalo Bills, Moore had five receptions for 146 yards and a TD.

Week 3 - Stefan Wisniewski - Darren McFadden

In the third week offensive guard Wisniewski was voted the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week, also via fan voting. That same week, running back Darren McFadden was selected as the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. He was also named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

    September - Sebastian Janikowski

In September, SeaBass was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month. He was 5 for 6 on field goals and 11 for 11 on extra points that month. The one miss was a 56-yarder.

    Week 5 - Sebastian Janikowski

Again, SeaBass was selected the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after an amazing performance against the Houston Texans. (Jason Campbell and the Raiders' emotional win to honor Al Davis was selected as the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week)

    Week 6 - Jacoby Ford

After returning a kickoff 101 yards against the Cleveland Browns, Ford was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. (The Oakland Raiders as a team were named the week 6 2011 Madden Top Protectors, an award honoring the best offensive line)

Week 10 - Michael Bush - Denarius Moore

Bush was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after an impressive performance against the San Diego Chargers. Bush was also voted the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. Denarius Moore was voted the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week, his second of the season.

    Week 12 - Sebastian Janikowski

SeaBass was again the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after another amazing performance where he nailed six field goals in a single game.

    November - Sebastian Janikowski

For the month of November, Janikowski was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.

    Week 16 - Richard Seymour

Seymour was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking two field goal attempts against the Kansas City Chiefs. (The Raiders as a team won the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week again, for their overtime win)

Although born and raised with Eagles fans in Philadelphia, Freddy Sherman has always been a citizen of Raider Nation at heart. Since his dad got him a signed George Blanda football as child, to meeting Lyle Alzado in the 1980s, he hasn't looked back. Follow him on twitter @thefredsherman
