Less than 24 hours after he spoke on gun violence at an ESPN-hosted townhall, NBA star Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was caught in the crossfire of a stray bullet in broad daylight.

Aldridge was reportedly pushing a baby stroller through Chicago’s Parkway Gardens neighborhood when two men began shooting at each other. She was struck in the head and the arm, and she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The child in the stroller was unharmed.

Wade took to Twitter to express his grief and frustration.

The Chicago Bulls also released a statement on the tragedy.

“The entire Chicago Bulls organization is deeply saddened by the news of Dwyane Wade’s cousin, Nykea Aldridge,” the statement reads. “We send our deepest condolences to the entire Wade family during this difficult time.”

Two people are currently being questioned in connection to the shooting. Charges have yet to be filed, according to authorities.
