Nowitzki sits out due to knee injury

Forward Dirk Nowitzki missed the Dallas Mavericks' exhibition game in Barcelona on Tuesday due to a right knee injury.

Nowitzki was a late scratch due to swelling in the knee. Without him, the Mavericks lost 99-85 to FC Barcelona Regal.

Dallas defeated Alba Berlin 89-84 on Saturday in Germany, with Nowitzki scoring eight points during his return to his home country. ESPN.com reported that Nowitzki was hurt in practice Monday.

Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois sat out the Barcelona game due to a sprained left ankle.

Chris Kaman led Dallas with 15 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday.
