    Notre Dame-USC gets season-best TV rating

    Notre Dame's 22-13 victory over USC on Saturday to clinch a spot in the BCS title game earned a 10.3 Nielson overnight rating, the best college football overnight this season, according to Sports Business Daily.

    The previous high was a 7.0 for CBS' Alabama-LSU game on Nov. 3.

    Notre Dame-USC's rating topped every ESPN BCS bowl game overnights from last season, except for the national title game between Alabama and LSU, which drew a 13.8.

    The Notre Dame-USC game rated higher than any ESPN/ABC regular-season game since the 2006 Michigan-Ohio St. matchup, which had an 11.5 overnight.

    CBS' primetime matchup between Alabama and LSU last year, however, got an 11.9 overnight rating.
