Notre Dame TE Eifert to enter draft

Notre Dame junior tight end Tyler Eifert will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, according to IrishIllustrated.com.

The announcement came right after the Irish fell to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game on Monday night.

NFLDraftScout.com ranks Eifert the No. 1 tight end in the country. He is projected to be a late first- or early second-round draft choice.

Eifert led Notre Dame with 50 catches for 685 yards with four touchdowns. He had six catches for 61 yards in the championship game.

For his career, Eifert had 140 catches for 1,840 yards with 11 TDs, despite not having a 100-yard receiving game. He holds several school records by a tight end.

Eifert, 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds, is considered a reliable receiver and an improved blocker the past three seasons. NFLDraftScout.com also writes: "He has strong hands and does a nice job making contested catches in traffic with the smooth body control and footwork of a wide receiver."
