    Northwestern State beats Louisiana-Monroe 76-63

    MONROE, La. (AP) Louis Ellis scored 19 points as Northwestern State beat Louisiana-Monroe 76-63 on Thursday night.

    Ellis opened the game by making back-to-back 3-pointers to give Northwestern State (5-5) an early 6-0 lead. The Demons wouldn't look back, leading by at least seven points throughout the entire game.

    Northwestern State knocked down a season high 13 shots from deep, nailing 46.4 percent of their 3-pointers (13 of 28). Ellis made a team high six 3s, taking 10 attempts.

    Gary Stewart added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, and Shamir Davis recorded 11 points, six assists and four steals for the Demons.

    Fred Brown led Louisiana-Monroe (1-10) with 14 points and Charles Winborne added 13 points.

    The game was the 118th meeting between the two teams. Louisiana-Monroe leads the series 70-48, however, Northwestern State has won the past six meetings.
