MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Tre Hale-Edmerson made 1 of 2 free throws with 19 seconds to go and Cal State Northridge survived a late charge from Montana State for a 74-73 victory on Thursday in the Central Michigan Tournament.
The Matadors (2-2) were 30 of 40 on free throws and their ability to get to the line was the difference.
Montana State (0-3) trailed 71-60 with 5:32 left and went on a 13-2 run before Edmerson made the game-winning free throw. The Bobcats had the ball as time wound down, but Antonio Biglow missed a jumper with two seconds left and Flavien Davis missed the putback at the buzzer.
Calen Coleman had 18 points with five 3-pointers for the Bobcats. Marcus Colbert added 17 points with four 3-pointers.
