Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

No deal in place for Jason Hanson yet

National Football Post

Jason Hanson has made it known he would like to return for a 22nd season to get his kicks.

But the Detroit Lions and the veteran kicker have yet to come up with a contract solution.

We’re waiting to hear back from them at this point and see where we are,” Lions president Tom Lewand said from the NFL owners meetings, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “But we’ve had discussions with them ever since Jason indicated that he wanted to play this year and see where that comes out.”

Hanson’s camp has not liked what it has seen to this point, though.

“We don’t feel like there’s any urgency and at this time we don’t have anything on the table that would be acceptable,” agent Jack Mills told Birkett.

Hanson is coming off one of the best seasons of his career as he made 32 of 36 field goals in 2012. We’ll see if something gets done here or not. There has been a trend around the league of teams going with younger (cheaper) kickers.
