No concussion for Bucs RB Martin

The SportsXchange

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin said he does not have a concussion after taking a knee to his helmet against the New England Patriots on Friday.

Martin left the game after getting hit by defensive end Chandler Jones's knee while pass blocking. After the game, Martin said he passed all concussion tests.

"It was just a tough play," Martin told the Tampa Times. "Things happen."

Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano backed up Martin's comments.

"I think Doug is going to be fine," Schiano said. "He got hit in the head but he cleared really quickly. I saw him at halftime and he was fine. He was going to play one more play."

Martin had just one carry for four yards in the 25-21 loss. He is coming off a rookie season in which he rushed for 1,454 yards with 11 touchdowns. He also made 49 receptions for 472 yards with a TD.
