TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Warren Niles opened the game with three straight 3-pointers and finished with 25 points as Oral Roberts defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 56-51 Saturday night.
Damen Bell-Holter added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (16-10, 11-3 Southland), and D.J. Jackson had 10 points.
Oral Roberts shot just 39 percent but held a significant advantage at the free-throw line, hitting 16 of 23 foul shots while the Islanders went 4 for 4.
The Golden Eagles scored the first eight points of the second half to go ahead 39-25 but later went 11:14 without a field goal as the Islanders pulled within 43-42 at the 4:32 mark. A basket by Niles ended the drought and started a 10-4 run to push the lead to 53-46 with 14 seconds left.
