Nicklas Backstrom leads PP

Michael Finewax reports that the Penguins remain the top power play team in the NHL heading into the final quarter of the season

The Olympics are over and the Power Play report goes back to the final week of the season before the break.

It was a shame that the NHL's leader in power play points, Nicklas Backstrom, was kicked out of the Olympics for using an allergy medication that is allowed by the National Hockey League and that he has been taking for seven years.

It was quite an Olympic Games with the hard part being the injuries sustained by Henrik Zetterberg, John Tavares and Mats Zuccarello.

The three injuries will hurt their respective team’s power play as all three were on the first unit.

I’ve added the ranking of each team in brackets as far as power play efficiency is concerned.
