Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Nick Foles backup QB in Philadelphia for right now

National Football Post

The Philadelphia Eagles have a knack for developing quarterbacks.

It’s too early to tell if they have done it again but at least they are comfortable with rookie Nick Foles opening the season as the No. 2 quarterback behind starter Michael Vick. Foles performed well in preseason and Mike Kafka, entering his third season, is still not healed from a hand injury.

It’s a little bit of a risky proposition because Foles is being called on to back up a quarterback with a history of getting injured.

“(Foles) is in that position right now, yeah," Eagles coach Andy Reid said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Right now, that's what he is. He's the one that's going to play and start (Thursday's) game.”

Reid said he couldn’t say what is depth chart will look like when Kafka is healthy. That is ht big question right now. Kafka is coming back from a fractured left hand and some wonder if he will make the 53-man roster. There is a possibility the Eagles will opt for veteran Trent Edwards as the No. 3.
