THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- Dantrell Thomas had 18 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds to lead Nicholls to a 79-73 win over University of Texas at San Antonio Tuesday night.
Jeremy Smith contributed 15 points, T.J. Carpenter and Amin Torres each had 11 for Nicholls (1-4).
Carpenter hit a 3-pointer to start the scoring and the Colonels built their lead to 37-27 at the half. UTSA (1-5) outscored Nicholls State 46-42 in the second half, but could never take the lead as the Colonels led throughout.
The Colonels were hot from the field, making 56.3 percent of their shots, as they were good on 10 of 23 three-point shots.
The Roadrunners had five players in double figures as Devon Agusi led them with 16 points. Keon Lewis and Hyjii Thomas each had 15, Philip Jones contributed 11 points and Jordan Sims added 10.
