Injuries are affecting many NHL teams in the shortened season, and the Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets felt the effects of injuries on Sunday. Predators wing Patric Hornqvist will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a lower-body injury in Saturday night's game at Anaheim, Predators coach Barry Trotz told the Tennessean. Hornqvist, 26, had one goal and three assists in four games before Saturday's game, and he had 27 goals and 16 assists in 76 games for the Predators last season. Through five games this season, the Predators have just 10 goals. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets have placed promising young forward Cam Atkinson on the injured reserve because of a groin injury, the Columbus Dispatch reported. He can be reactivated as early as Jan. 30. Atkinson, 23, has scored one goal in the three games he's played this season. He provided optimism when he scored five goals in Columbus' two final games last season. --- San Jose Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart will not be punished by the league by the big hit he put on Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog on Saturday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reported. The crushing hit led to a fight with Ryan O'Byrne. That fight then led to a Sharks power in which they scored twice. ---Teams must decide whether junior-eligible will remain in the NHL for the rest of the season, and two of them are headed back to the CHL today. The Philadelphia Flyers announced that forwardScott Laughton is headed back to the OHL's Oshawa Generals after playing in all five of the team's games. The Minnesota Wild sent defenseman Matthew Dumba back to the WHL's Red Deer rebels. --- Lubomir Visnovsky's agent Neil Sheehy said on Twitter on Saturday night that Visnovsky will return to the New York Islanders' lineup no later than Feb. 11. Sheehy said Visnovsky could join the team sooner if the personal issues with Visnovsky's family are resolved before that.
