NHL roundup: Canucks' Booth out for rest of regular season

Vancouver Canucks winger David Booth will miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing ankle surgery on Friday, Vancouver general manager Mike Gillis said on TEAM 1040 radio.

Booth was hurt in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Detroit. It's possible Booth, 28, could return for the postseason.

Booth missed the start of the season with a groin injury and has only one goal in 12 games this season.

---The Nashville Predators sent forward Craig Smith to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League on a conditioning assignment, the team announced.

The 23-year-old Smith has nine points in 30 games this season for the Predators, with all but one of his points coming in the past 15 games.
