April 4 (The Sports Xchange) - Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos underwent successful surgery Monday afternoon to treat a blood clot, which was located near his right collarbone. Stamkos, the Lightning's leading scorer with 36 goals and 64 points, is expected to fully recover and he should be able to return to the ice in one to three months. - - Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri has been suspended four games for cross-checking Detroit Red Wings forward Luke Glendening. Kadri is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $200,000. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. - - St. Louis Blues forward David Backes and goaltender Jake Allen will miss the remainder of the regular season with lower-body injuries. Backes, 31, has played in all 79 games this season, ranking second on the club with 21 goals and fourth with 45 points overall. - - The Anaheim Ducks signed defenseman Andy Welinski to a two-year entry-level contract. Welinski, 22, recorded 19 points (six points, 13 assists) in 40 games with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference this season. - - The Nashville Predators recalled forward Cody Bass from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League. Bass, 29, has appeared in 14 games with the Predators in two recalls this season, his first in the organization, and has recorded 12 penalty minutes. - - The Winnipeg Jets recalled defenseman Brenden Kichton from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Kichton, 23, has played in 65 games for Manitoba this season, leading the team with 38 points (10 goals, 28 assists), along with 36 penalty minutes. - - The Minnesota Wild recalled forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Christian Folin from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League. Dalpe, 26, has collected three goals, 24 penalty minutes and 26 shots on goal in eight games with Iowa this season.
