Oct 4 (The Sports Xchange) - The Montreal Canadiens agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent forward Tomas Fleischmann on Sunday. According to TVA Sports, Fleischmann's contract is worth $750,000. Fleischmann, 31, played 66 games with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks in 2014-15, recording 29 points (eight goals, 19 assists). The 6-foot-1, 186-pound left winger served 12 penalty minutes and maintained a plus-12 differential, while averaging 14:42 of ice time per game. Since making his professional debut with the Washington Capitals in 2005-06, Fleischmann has played 581 regular-season games, contributing 310 points (123 goals, 187 assists). He has six 30-plus point seasons, with a career-high of 61 in 2011-12 with the Panthers, in 10 full seasons in the NHL with Washington, the Colorado Avalanche, Florida and Anaheim. - - - The Boston Bruins signed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year, one-way contract for this season worth a cap figure of $700,000. Gustavsson played for the Detroit Red Wings from 2012 to 2015. He appeared in 41 games for the Red Wings and had a 21-10-6 record. Last season, he played in seven games, including six starts, and had a 3-3 record with a 2.56 goals-against average. His playing time last season was limited because of a separated shoulder and concussion symptoms. - - - San Jose Sharks forward Raffi Torres was suspended by the NHL, pending his disciplinary hearing with the league, for his hit on Anaheim Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg, TSN reported. Torres received a match penalty for targeting Silfverberg's head on Saturday night. Torres sat out all of last season with a knee injury, and the start of Torres' season apparently will be delayed this year. - - - The Detroit Red Wings placed four players on injured reserve and assigned 11 players to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Centers Pavel Datsyuk and center Darren Helm (retroactive to Sept. 18) and defensemen Danny DeKeyser (retroactive to Sept. 30) and Alexey Marchenko (retroactive to Sept. 28) were placed on seven-day injured reserve. Forwards Andreas Athanasiou, Louis-Marc Aubry, Tyler Bertuzzi, Colin Campbell, Anthony Mantha, Zach Nastasiuk, Tomas Nosek and Eric Tangradi and defensemen Nick Jensen, Robbie Russo and Ryan Sproul were sent to the team's AHL affiliate. - - - The Calgary Flames released defenseman Ryan Wilson from his professional tryout. Wilson spent the past six seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, playing in 230 games and producing seven goals, 60 assists and 157 penalty minutes. - - - The Toronto Maple Leafs assigned 16 players to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. T.J. Brennan, Andrew Campbell, Sam Carrick, Matt Frattin and Byron Froese were sent to the team's AHL affiliate pending waivers. Eleven other players were assigned to the Marlies: Antoine Bibeau, Connor Brown, Rich Clune, Zach Hyman, Kasperi Kapanen, Viktor Loov, William Nylander, Stuart Percy, Nikita Soshnikov, Garret Sparks and Rinat Valiev. In addition, defenseman Petter Granberg will be designated as injured, non-roster. - - - The Buffalo Sabres assigned forward Cal O'Reilly to the Rochester Americans of the AHL.
