Oct 10 (The Sports Xchange) - The Buffalo Sabres placed goaltender Robin Lehner on injured reserve Saturday and recalled goalie Nathan Lieuwen from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Lehner sustained a lower-body injury in the second period of the Sabres' 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Lieuwen, 24, played seven games for the Sabres during the 2013-14 season, posting a 1-4-0 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average. Goaltender Linus Ullmark was activated from injured reserve and loaned to Rochester, and defenseman Jake McCabe was loaned to Rochester. - - - Tampa Bay center Tyler Johnson left Saturday's game against the Sabres because of to a lower-body injury. Johnson sustained the injury 2:43 into the third period following a hit along the boards by Sabres left winger Evander Kane. Johnson was helped to the locker room by team trainers. Johnson had a career-high 72 points (29 goals, 43 assists) for the Lightning last season. - - - The Los Angeles Kings assigned goaltender Peter Budaj to the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League. Budaj, signed to a one-year contract Friday, has appeared in 296 regular-season games in nine seasons in the NHL with Colorado and Montreal, registering a 124-107-36 record with a .903 save percentage and a 2.76 goals-against average.
