Oct 15 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Wednesday's National Hockey League games. - - - Bruins 3, Red Wings 2 (shootout) Center David Krejci and right winger Reilly Smith scored in the shootout to give the Boston Bruins a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Krejci and Smith also scored goals for Boston in regulation while goaltender Tuukka Rask made 18 saves. Wingers Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist scored for Detroit while goalie Jimmy Howard stopped 37-of-39 shots in regulation and overtime. Nyquist's power-play goal 2:56 into the third tied the game at 2-2. - - - Flames 2, Blackhawks 1 (overtime) Calgary center Mikael Backlund's wrist shot beat Chicago goalie Corey Crawford with 25 seconds left in overtime, giving the Flames a 2-1 win over the Blackhawks. The loss was the first of the season for Chicago (2-0-1), while Calgary (3-2-0) climbed back above .500. The Blackhawks outshot the Flames 50-19 but Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller made 49 saves for the win. - - - Coyotes 7, Oilers 4 Arizona left winger Mikkel Boedker scored his first career hat-trick and Connor Murphy and Rob Klinkhammer scored 67 seconds apart in the second period to help the Coyotes to a 7-4 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Boedker scored the Coyotes' first goal in the first period and flipped a backhand shot that slipped through Edmonton goaltender Ben Scrivens' pads for an easy tally and a 5-3 lead at 9:07 of the third period. He scored an empty netter with 26.7 seconds remaining for his fifth goal of the season, one behind Rangers winger Rick Nash among NHL leaders. Edmonton, one of four winless teams in the league, is off to its worst start since losing its first four games in 1995-96. (Editing by John O'Brien)
