(Adds later games) Oct 27 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Sunday's National Hockey League games: - - - Avalanche 3, Jets 2 Paul Stastny had a goal and an assist in the third period, and the Colorado Avalanche rallied in the final 13 minutes to beat the Winnipeg Jets. Matt Duchene and Jan Hejda also scored for Colorado, who have won four straight to improve to 10-1-0, one point behind the NHL-best San Jose Sharks. The Avalanche entered the third period trailing 2-1 but got the game-tying score from Hejda before Stastny's winner at 14:32. Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler had a goal and assist each and Al Montoya made 33 saves for the Jets. Colorado, in the midst of playing six of seven at home, are enjoying their hottest start to a season. - - - Kings 2, Oilers 1 (shootout) Anze Kopitar scored the game-winning shootout goal as the Los Angeles Kings edged the Edmonton Oilers 2-1. Oilers goalie Richard Bachman recorded a career-high 47 saves but lost the shootout battle with Los Angeles' Jonathan Quick as he yielded goals to centers Mike Richards and Kopitar. Edmonton struck first when Nail Yakupov banged home a rebound at 4:12 of the second period. The Kings tied the game when center Mike Richards beat Bachman from a sharp angle at 16:58. The Kings held Edmonton shot-less in the extra session and only yielded 18 for the game. - - - Sharks 5, Senators 2 San Jose goalie Alex Stalock stopped 38 shots in his first NHL start as the Sharks defeated the Ottawa Senators. Led by Stalock's sparkling debut, San Jose now has an NHL-leading 21 points with a 10-1-1 record. The loss was the second in a row for the Senators, who are now 4-5-2. Tomas Hertl, Andrew Desjardins, Tommy Wingels, James Sheppard and Joe Pavelski scored for the Sharks. Erik Karlssson and Marc Methot had the Ottawa goals. - - - Lightning 4, Panthers 3 (shootout) Tampa Bay blew a two-goal, third-period lead but prevailed in a shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Steven Stamkos had the winning goal in the shootout and also scored in regulation where teammates Martin St. Louis and Radko Gudas added goals. Shawn Matthias scored for Florida in the first period before Nick Bjugstad and Brad Boyes found the net in the third period to send the game into overtime. Through overtime, Tampa's Anders Lindback made 29 saves and Florida's Jacob Markstrom 25. - - - Ducks 4, Blue Jackets 3 Cory Perry's unassisted goal with 2:15 remaining gave the road-weary Anaheim Ducks victory win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Peter Holland, Ryan Getzlaf and Emerson Etem also scored for the Ducks, who are four games deep on a season-long eight-game road trip. Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen won his second straight start with 18 saves. Artem Anisimov scored twice for the Blue Jackets, and Blake Comeau also scored.
