Penguins 3, Ducks 1

Brian Gibbons recorded a goal and an assist in his NHL debut to spark the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

Pittsburgh (13-8-0) exploded with three goals in the third period from Gibbons, Brandon Sutter and Sidney Crosby, who netted his 10th of the season.

Ryan Getzlaf recorded his 11th goal for the Ducks (15-6-2), who have lost four straight.

The game marked the last appearance in Pittsburgh for future Hall of Famer Teemu Selanne. The Anaheim winger, who is retiring after the season, was held without a point for just the second time in 22 career games against the Penguins.

Bruins 4, Hurricanes 1

Boston ruined the return of Carolina goalie Cam Ward by scoring four goals against him during their road victory.

Ward had not played since Oct. 24 against the Minnesota Wild when he suffered a lower-body injury.

He stopped 25 shots but could not hold off the Bruins (13-6-1). Reilly Smith, Cari Soderberg, Johnny Boychuk and Milan Lucic scored for the Bruins. Tuomo Ruutu replied for the Canes.

Flames 5, Jets 4 (shootout)

Flames center Sean Monahan beat Jets goalie Al Montoya in the eighth round of a shootout to end a wild affair.

After a scoreless game through the first period, the game erupted and featured three goals in the second and five in the third before Calgary edged Winnipeg in the shootout.

Mike Cammalleri opened the scoring in the second and from there the teams traded goals through regulation. Each team had four different scorers.

The game was the first matchup between the teams in Winnipeg since April 6, 1996.
