NFL roundup: Saints match offer sheet for S Bush

The New Orleans Saints matched the Atlanta Falcons' offer sheet for restricted free agent safety Rafael Bush on Monday.

Bush will stay with New Orleans on a reported two-year, $4.5 million deal. The Saints had until Tuesday to match the offer sheet Bush signed last week with the Falcons.

Bush indicated that the offer had been matched by tweeting, "I'm still a saint yep." Bush's agent, Brian Anderson, also confirmed the Saints matched Atlanta's offer.

Bush originally received a one-year, $1.4 million tender from the Saints on a no-compensation tender.

---Former Clemson guard Brandon Thomas, who is considered one of the top interior offensive linemen available in this year's NFL Draft, suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during training last week.

Thomas (6-foot-3, 317 pounds) is ranked No. 120 overall by

Thomas, who had six pre-draft visits in recent weeks, was seen as a probable second- or third-round pick before suffering his injury.

---Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel are scheduled to visit the Houston Texans this month. Bortles is first to visit April 15-16, followed by Manziel April 21-22.

Houston has the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

---Safety Major Wright and wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wright was drafted by new Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith and was an unrestricted free agent who started 31 games the past two seasons with the Chicago Bears. Wright will serve primarily in a backup role and play special teams.

---The Tennessee Titans and defensive end Kamerion Wimbley agreed to a restructured contract, according to multiple reports. reported that the deal is for three years and $9 million. He was scheduled to earn $19.5 million over the next three seasons, including $6 million in base salary.

---The Detroit Lions signed free agent cornerback Cassius Vaughn to a one-year contract, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Vaughn started 15 games for the Indianapolis Colts over the last two seasons. The Colts acquired him in a 2012 trade with the Denver Broncos.

---NFL and NFL players' association officials are scheduled to meet in New York on Tuesday to discuss workplace conduct, among other issues, according to NFL Network.

The workplace environment became a big topic during the season in light of the Miami Dolphins' bullying and harassment scandal primarily involving offensive linemen Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin.

---The Cincinnati Bengals hired Marcus Lewis, son of head coach Marvin Lewis, to the staff as defensive assistant/quality control.

Lewis spent last season as an assistant to the University of Cincinnati coaching staff working with the defensive line, scout teams, film breakdown and practice organization. He will work in similar capacities with the Bengals.

---The Carolina Panthers signed free agent wide receiver Jason Avant to a one-year contract.

Avant (6-2 and 210 pounds) joins the Panthers after spending the first eight seasons (2006-13) of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 2013, Avant started a career-high 13 games and totaled 38 catches for 447 yards and two touchdowns.
