NFL roundup: Dolphins hire Hickey as GM

The SportsXchange

The Miami Dolphins hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel Dennis Hickey as their new general manager, the team announced Sunday.

Hickey will replace Jeff Ireland, who parted ways with the Dolphins earlier this month after six years as the team's GM.

Stephen Ross, the Dolphins' chairman of the board and managing general partner, announced the hiring.

Hickey will oversee all aspects of football operations, reporting directly to Ross, and head coach Joe Philbin will continue to oversee his coaching staff and report directly to Ross as well, the Dolphins said in a statement.

Other 49ers who had or will have surgery include fellow inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman (ACL) and defensive end Ray McDonald (biceps tendon).

Several media outlets reported that the team is set to announce Langsdorf's hiring.

--The Washington Redskins named Randy Jordan as running backs coach.

Jordan, 43, spent the last two years as the running backs coach at the University of North Carolina.
