NFL roundup: Charges dropped against Lions' Spievey

The SportsXchange

Detroit Lions safety Amari Spievey had all charges dropped against him related to an April arrest resulting from a dispute with his girlfriend over child support.

Spievey was arrested for third-degree assault, risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct, but had the charges dismissed after completing a family violence education program.

"He and his girlfriend are back together again and everything's resolved," Michael Dowley, Spievey's attorney, told the Detroit Free Press on Friday. "Everything's completed and everything's fine. He's really looking forward to the season with Lions."

Spievey's girlfriend also participated in the program and had risk of injury to a child and disorderly conduct charges dropped as well.

Spievey is expected to start at one safety spot for the Lions this season.
