NFL roundup: Bears QB Cutler reportedly will start Sunday
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler passed the various concussion tests this week and will start Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, according to a CBS Sports report.
Cutler missed one game because of a concussion, the Bears' 32-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers last Monday.
"Feel good. Feel good," Cutler said earlier this week. "About as normal as can be. We're going through the process. I met with (the doctors) on Monday morning. Got a few more hoops to jump through, so we'll see how it goes this week."
Cutler was scheduled to undergo a test Saturday to determine if he would be cleared to play. Apparently, he passed the exam.
Various media reports said Cutler had practiced on a limited basis this week and met the league's concussion protocol.
He was listed as questionable on the team's injury report Friday.
Jason Campbell started in Cutler place against the 49ers and finished the Bears' previous game in which Cutler was injured in the first half.
--New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow aggravated a rib injury during the week while lifting weights and stretching, the New York Daily News reported.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said Friday the extent of Tebow's injury was not known until Wednesday when a CT scan revealed two fractured ribs. He originally injured the ribs in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks. At the time, the Jets said, X-rays were negative.
Tebow was listed as questionable on the team's injury report before Thursday's 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots, but the team did not indicate the ribs were broken.
Tebow revealed after the game the he had broken ribs.
He had not missed any practice time and was cleared by doctors to play, according to Rex Ryan.
---The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday they have ruled out quarterback Michael Vick and running back LeSean McCoy for Monday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Vick and McCoy are still recovering from concussions.
Nick Foles will start for the second straight week in place of Vick and Bryce Brown will take McCoy's spot on the active roster.
---Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin will miss Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears because of a sprained ankle, the team announced Saturday.
Harvin was listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday, but did not travel with the team Saturday. He will miss his second straight game.
---Wide receiver Jabar Gaffney, who was cut by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, was suspended two games by the NFL stemming from a 2010 arrest, USA Today reported Saturday.
Gaffney was charged with a non-violent resisting arrest charge in Miami two years ago and recently finished a diversion program related to the case. Gaffney can be signed by teams during the suspension.
