With only one game remaining in Week 2 of the NFL preseason, the injury toll is piling up across the league. Over the past few days, the Atlanta Falcons were hit the hardest, with left tackle Sam Baker out for the 2014 season due to a torn patellar tendon.

Baker's absence is a tough blow for a Falcons team that looked to be improved along the line this offseason. General manager Thomas Dimitroff was aggressive, signing Jon Asamoah to fortify the guards, then drafting Jake Matthews in the first round to fill the right tackle spot. With Baker's injury, Matthews will slide to the left side, creating a void on the right.

Dave Choate of The Falcoholic explains one option for Atlanta moving forward:

The popular name is Bryant McKinnie, a 34-year-old Kilimanjaro of a man who has been a successful NFL tackle in the past. The problem is chiefly his age and off-and-on conditioning issues, and I objected to McKinnie before when Baker was healthy because I didn't view him as an upgrade.

St. Louis Rams running back Isaiah Pead suffered a season-ending torn ACL against the Green Bay Packers, and his status was confirmed by head coach Jeff Fisher after the game. Pead was slotted to compete with rookie Tre Mason as the backup to Zac Stacy. In that same game, the Packers saw tight end Brandon Bostick sustain a leg injury. However, Bostick tweeted out later that he is alright.

It was a tough Sunday afternoon for the San Francisco 49ers, who watched safety Antoine Bethea sustain a concussion during their 34-0 loss to the Denver Broncos. Bethea is likely out for next week's game, as pointed out by David Fucillo at Niners Nation.

Bethea will go through the concussion protocol, but given that this is the preseason, I would be surprised if he ended up on the field a week from now. It helps getting him work next to Eric Reid, but the goal is to be 100 percent for the start of the regular season.

Ray Rice and Jimmy Smith of the Baltimore Ravens suffered scares, but it appears nothing more. Rice left the game against the Dallas Cowboys with a shoulder bruise while Smith exited with a bruised chest. Both had X-rays and came up negative.

Oakland Raiders backup quarterback Derek Carr played well against the Detroit Lions before leaving with a concussion and bruised ribs. Carr is behind Matt Schaub on the depth chart, but helped himself on Friday, going 9-of-16 for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins exited the game against Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. Luckily, Watkins only has bruised ribs and is expected to be fine.

Another rookie, Cincinnati Bengals corner Darqueze Dennard, also went down with a hip injury against the New York Jets. Dennard did not return and the Bengals have not updated his status at this time.

In Seattle, the San Diego Chargers watched second-year linebacker Manti Te'o sustain a sprained foot. Te'o has already been ruled out for the third preseason game and likely will not return until the regular season opener against the Arizona Cardinals.
