NFL Preseason: Four bold predictions for Week 3

Chuck Mills 2016 Predictions: Browns
Chuck Mills 2016 Predictions: Browns

Entering week three of the 2016 NFL Preseason campaign, teams are beginning to finalize their plans for starting the regular season. With the Week 4 being all about the backups and roster battles this week will be the last chance for most of the league’s starters to play before this preseason.

Though not as heavily weighted as the regular season, I will be putting on my best thinking helmet and attempting to try and predict the unpredictable during the third week of the NFL preseason. Here’s five things we might see…

Tony Romo will have three touchdowns and no interceptions

Even without Dez Bryant this week, Tony Romo will pickup where he left off last week and continue to play strongly for the Cowboys. Taking on the Seahawks, Romo will perform brilliantly during his half of play including three touchdown passes to three different players.

Helping Romo out the most will be the teams running game with Ezekiel Elliott leading the way rushing the ball and catching one of Romo’s touchdown passes. Overall, the teams play will give fans the hope they need to believe in a good season for the Cowboys.

Robert Griffin and Jameis Winston will have a shootout

In the matchup between the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, RGIII and Jameis Winston will have a tremendous quarterback battle that will serve as highlight reels for both this preseason. I expect both to play the first half with both getting at least two total touchdowns.

Griffin’s scores should both be through the air with at least one going to Terrelle Pryor while Winston scores through both the air and on the ground to demonstrate his duel-threat ability. The result will ultimately lead to confidence from both fan bases that will likely be squandered during the regular season.

Giants vs. Jets is a defensive thriller

The New York Giants were shut out last week against the Buffalo Bills. The New York Jets have a lot of offensive problems to deal with as an offense. In the end, the battle of New York ends up being a defensive thriller with both teams defenses playing impressively and keeping the scoring low.

I do not think that the game will have a shutout, but the scoring should be either in the combined low 20’s potentially into the high 20’s. In the end, the Jets should pull this one out and give their fans at least one title this season as kings of New York.

Eddie Lacy has over 100-yards rushing

Proving that he ready for a bounceback campaign, Eddie Lacy dominates on the ground against San Francisco and records over 100-yards rushing during the first half of the contest. Most of these yards come on a run of over 50-yards and he also scores a touchdown.

Behind him, the teams other running back succeed in running the rock leading many to praise the strength of the Packers’ running game as well as help quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the contest throwing the football.
