NFL-National Football League roundup

March 16 (The Sports Xchange) - The Cleveland Browns made several noteworthy moves on Wednesday. Linebacker Karlos Dansby and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe had their contracts terminated by the Browns, and they signed linebacker Demario Davis to a two-year contract. Dansby signed a four-year, $24 million deal with the Browns in 2014 and is the only active NFL player with at least 40 career sacks and 15 interceptions. But Dansby was due to earn $5 million in base salary with a $6.5 million cap hit. Bowe signed a two-year, $12.5 million deal last offseason that included $9 million in guaranteed money, but he suffered a hamstring injury during the preseason that limited his playing time. He finished the season with five receptions. Davis' deal is worth $8 million with $4.2 million guaranteed, ESPN.com reported. He spent the previous four seasons with the New York Jets. --- Running back Chris Johnson, an unrestricted free agent, visited with the Miami Dolphins after the team missed out on C.J. Anderson. The Dolphins lost former starter Lamar Miller to the Houston Texans in free agency and had signed Anderson to a four-year, $18 million offer sheet last week. But the Broncos matched Anderson's deal on Tuesday, keeping the running back in Denver. --- The Arizona Cardinals agreed to terms on a one-year contract with guard Evan Mathis. The move came one day after the Cardinals shipped guard Jonathan Cooper to the New England Patriots in exchange for defensive end Chandler Jones. --- The Washington Redskins officially re-signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Junior Galette and offensive lineman Josh LeRibeus. According to NFL.com, Galette's deal could be worth up to $4.1 million. --- The Los Angeles Rams reached agreement Wednesday on a two-year contract with defensive end Quinton Coples. According to an NFL Media report, the deal is worth between $6.5 million and $9.75 million. --- The Atlanta Falcons signed offensive tackle Tom Compton and linebacker LaRoy Reynolds. Compton comes to Atlanta from Washington, where he played in 44 games and made 10 starts in four seasons. Reynolds played in 30 games and started three for the Jacksonville Jaguars in three seasons. --- The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed defensive tackle Pat Sims to a two-year contract. The 6-foot-2, 340-pound Sims returns to the team from the unrestricted free-agent ranks. --- The San Diego Chargers re-signed versatile offensive lineman Chris Hairston to a two-year deal. Hairston joined the Chargers on a one-year contract in 2015 and became one of the team's most valuable performers on the offensive line. --- Left tackle Donald Penn signed a one-year deal to return to the Oakland Raiders in 2016. Penn, 32, will pair with free-agent signee Kelechi Osemele to give the Raiders a strong front five. The Raiders also signed free agent safety Brynden Trawick to a one-year contract on Wednesday.
