NFL-National Football League roundup

Nov 26 (The Sports Xchange) - Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was demoted to third string this week after he lied to the team about when a video of him partying was recorded, according to multiple reports Thursday. Manziel, who spent three months in a rehab facility he entered voluntarily in January, can be seen drinking champagne and in a general party atmosphere in photos and video published online Monday. The video shows Manziel singing while holding what appeared to be a champagne bottle at a club in Austin, Texas, during the team's bye week -- six days after he was given the starting job. - - The New England Patriots put wide receiver Aaron Dobson on season-ending injured reserve and signed safety Dewey McDonald to the 53-man roster. Dobson sustained an ankle injury during the Patriots' win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, further depleting New England at wide receiver. - - Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver apparently suffered a season-ending knee injury during the team's Thanksgiving Day practice. Culliver tore the ACL and MCL in the knee, NFL.com reported. Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed that Culliver was injured but didn't go into specifics. - - The Arizona Cardinals placed linebacker LaMarr Woodley on season-ending injured reserve with a chest injury and signed defensive tackle Red Bryan. Woodley, 31, played in all 10 games this season and had 10 tackles with one sack. Woodley missed practice Wednesday with the injury. - - The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran kicker Shayne Graham with Matt Bryant nursing a quad injury and waived linebacker Joplo Bartu. - - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received notice that rookie linebacker Kwon Alexander has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The Tampa Bay Times reported the suspension is subject to appeal, and Alexander has five days to file the paperwork challenging the outcome. - - New York Giants tight end Larry Donnell is unlikely to play Sunday against the Washington Redskins after suffering a setback with a neck injury. Donnell went for another MRI exam on his injured neck and was held out of practice on Wednesday. He was first injured in Week 8 against the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 1. - - New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has a reputation for not revealing much at his press conferences, but on Thanksgiving he showed another side. The four-time Super Bowl-winning coach added a final comment at the end of his press conference -- and not in response to a question -- expressing his gratitude to the media and high school football. "I'll jump in there and just wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving," Belichick said. "I appreciate the professional way that this group covers us and being the conduit of information from the team to the fans. We have great fan support. Today is also a day to be recognized with the high school football level with so many traditional and rivalry games taking place." - - Christian Ponder gladly gave up shopping for Thanksgiving groceries to join the Denver Broncos and add quarterback depth with Peyton Manning out. The Broncos brought Ponder in Wednesday to work out and they signed him as Manning is expected to miss at least two games with a partially torn plantar fascia. Ponder is a fifth-year player who started 36 of 38 games during his first four NFL seasons with Minnesota after being selected by the Vikings in the first round (12th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Florida State.
