The NFL on Wednesday fined Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Terence Garvin $25,000 for his hard hit on Cincinnati Bengals punter Kevin Huber in Sunday's Steelers win.
Huber, who was shown on TV replays walking off the field with a bloodied face, suffered a broken jaw and cracked vertebrae after Garvin plowed into him near midfield on the same play in which Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown broke a 67-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Game officials did not penalize Garvin for the hit just below Huber's chin.
Huber remained on the field for several minutes before leaving under his own power. He's slated for surgery on his jaw Friday and is lost for the remainder of the season.
Garvin said in a statement that he plans to speak to Huber soon.
