There are always podcasts about the cool shows on television: Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire. Then there is Deadliest Catch, Discovery Channel's crab fishing reality program that gets no buzz, little love and yet is in its eighth season and features a two-hour special Tuesday. Someone out there is watching.
The Dan Wetzel Podcast is here to remedy this lack of respect by the media. Deadliest Catch has never been better. So fellow show enthusiast Ryan Brown, co-host of the Roundtable on WJOX in Birmingham, Ala., joins the podcast to break down the season, discuss the show's odd, hypnotic appeal and offer opinions on the cast of skippers – Keith Colburn, Elliott Neese, Scott "Junior" Campbell, the Hillstrand Brothers and so on.

And in an effort to connect some sports to this podcast the following question is posed: If football coaches were characters on the show, who would they be? Nick Saban as Sig Hansen? Rob Ryan as Wild Bill?
