The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s early 2014 fight cards are filling up fast, and there is a bevvy of new talent joining the promotion’s roster to facilitate the undercards.
One of the promotion’s most recent signings, Francisco Trevino, and veteran Renee Forte have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 171 on March 15 in Dallas.
Trevino enters the Octagon undefeated, having won all 11 of his professional bouts. His first 10 victories came under the banner of South Texas Fighting Championships, before moving on to Legacy Fighting Championship in November, where he defeated Lester Batres to earn a shot in the UFC.
Forte (8-3) has three bouts under his belt in the Octagon, but has a mere 1-2 record to show for it. He is coming off of a loss to John Makdessi at UFC 165 last September. A loss to Trevino would put his UFC tenure on shaky ground.
Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will meet in the UFC 171 main event to determine who will fill the UFC welterweight championship vacancy left by former champion George St-Pierre’s recent departure.
