New Bears kicker booed on day Robbie Gould featured on game tickets

The Chicago Bears picked a bad game to feature Robbie Gould on their game tickets — more than a month after they cut their longtime kicker.

Gould is beloved by Bears fans, and following the cost-saving move — and perhaps a performance-based one, based on the team’s comments after he was let go — it looks like an ill-advised one. Having Gould’s face on the game tickets looks almost as bad.

His replacement, Connor Barth, has not done well, missing two of his first three field-goal attempts of the season. In Sunday’s 17-14 victory against the Detroit Lions, Barth badly missed a 50-yard attempt late in the second quarter. Bears fans let him have it with boos.

Worth noting: Gould was 7-of-9 on tries from 50 yards and longer in 2015. That decision appears to be coming back to bite the Bears so far.
