Unlike the solidity of its point guards, the Brooklyn Nets have their shooting guard situation somewhat covered.
6-time NBA All-Star, Johnson brings a lot of skill to the Nets. While his points per game average has been declining since the 2006-2007 season (he scored 18.8 points last season), I expect it to climb past 20 points with the help of Deron Williams. Deron is exactly the player that Johnson needs to flourish. Other than his scoring ability, the 31-year old guard-forward has good passing skills. With his 3.9 assists per game (on par with C.J. Watson, the backup PG), he can fill in for Deron when needed.
Brooks had a great rookie season, averaging 12.6 points, 2.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game. The guard-forward from Providence College has shown flashes of basketball IQ brilliance and precise shooting. At times, however, Brooks makes clumsy mistakes, which has been shown recently at the Summer League in Orlando, Florida. This can be credited to his inexperience and the pressure put on him last season, where he had to be in the starting lineup numerous times. Now, under the guidance of Joe Johnson, I expect MarShon to bump up his scoring average, as well as feel more comfortable on the floor.
Bogans was acquired but the Nets way back in February of 2012, but got injured after playing only five games. He was waived two weeks after being signed, but was taken back in the summer. What Bogans will bring to the team is not fully known, other than being able to back up Johnson and Brooks with 4.2 points and 2.2 rebounds that he averaged per game with the Nets.
The same can be said of Stackhouse, except that the 38-year old guard-forward can bring insurmountable experience to the squad. Other than that, "Stack" averages 3.6 points and barely a rebound per game.
The Nets shooting guard depth chart seems solid, but could spell trouble if Johnson or Brooks (God forbid!) get injured. Neither Bogans or Stackhouse would be able to provide the firepower of the first two.
