The Brooklyn Nets will escape New York for a few days and move their training camp to the Duke University campus in Durham, N.C., to prepare for the 2013-14 season, the team announced Wednesday.
The Nets will spend five days at Duke from Oct. 1 to Oct. 5. Their first preseason game is Oct. 8 against the Washington Wizards.
"With many new players and a new staff, going on the road for training camp will offer a unique opportunity for our players to bond and focus solely on basketball as they prepare for this season," Nets general manager Billy King said. "Duke University offers first-class basketball facilities and will provide an optimum training environment for our team."
One of the newcomers is first-round pick Mason Plumlee from Duke, the No. 22 overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft. King also played at Duke and was a member of the Blue Devils' 1988 Final Four team.
