Nets coach Kidd suspended two games

Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd was suspended for two games for pleading guilty to driving while ability impaired, the NBA announced Friday.

Kidd is suspended for the first two games of the season.

He will miss the Nets' opener Oct. 30 at the Cleveland Cavaliers and the No. 1 game against the Miami Heat.

Kidd pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge on July 16. He was arrested in Long Island on July 15, 2012, when he crashed his Cadillac SUV into a telephone pole.

Kidd retired as an NBA player after last season and is in his first season as the Nets' coach.
