Nets beat Raptors, tie first round 3-3

Deron Williams scored 23 and the Brooklyn Nets defeated the Toronto Raptors, 97-83. Brooklyn forces the first round to Game 7.

Williams finished 8-16 from the field (4-10 from three-point range) in an efficient offensive performance. Other top performers for Brooklyn were Kevin Garnett with 13 points and five rebounds, and Paul Pierce with 12 points and six rebounds. DeMar DeRozan had another quality performance for Toronto despite the loss, putting up 28 points on 8-18 shooting (2-3 on 3-point attempts), in addition to going 10-11 from the free throw line.

In addition to winning the turnover battle in Game 6, Brooklyn has dominated the series in that category. They've lost the ball on 12.9% of their possessions compared to 16.1% for the Raptors. From the perspective of the Game 6 loser, Toronto has controlled the glass in this series. The Raptors have corralled 26.6% of available offensive rebounds as well as 79.4% of possible defensive rebounds. The Raptors had an eFG% of just 42.9%, which included 29.2% from 3-point range in this game. During the regular season, they were 1-7 when they recorded marks below 45% and 30% in those respective categories. On the other hand, the Nets were 6-1 when holding their opponents to such low percentages.

With the first round tied at 3-3, the teams move to Toronto, where the Raptors will attempt to close out the first round in front of the home crowd.
