Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo believes Gareth Bale is not yet as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Tottenham winger has been heavily linked with a 120 million euro move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, but the 27-year-old says that the Welshman cannot yet be compared to the two Liga stars.
"Bale is not yet on the same level as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo," he told Marca. "In the future he might be because he possesses many great qualities."
Negredo, who is set to represent Spain in Wednesday's friendly with Ecuador, also spoke about the timing of this week's internationals as well as la Roja's Confederations Cup final defeat to Brazil.
"To play for Spain is always an honor, although the timing of this game is not ideal, considering it's so close to the start of the new season," he continued.
"The Brazil game was just a bad performance, simple as that. It was exaggerated by many people and will not worry us at all."
The Spaniard also revealed his reasons behind choosing to join Man City, claiming that the Premier League holds more appeal to him than a sub-standard Liga.
"I moved to England because the league is becoming less competitive in Spain," he said. "The Premier League is organized better."
