Quarterback Taylor Martinez's career is over at Nebraska. Coach Bo Pelini said Friday that the injured senior will not play in the Gator Bowl against Georgia on Wednesday, CBSSports.com reported. Defensive end Avery Moss also will miss the game to attend to a personal matter and Cornhuskers reserves Jared Afalva, Richard Wynne and Ishmail Jackson were suspended for violations of team rules. Martinez last played in a loss at Minnesota on Oct. 26. That was his only action after he suffered a foot injury against UCLA in the third game of the season. Pelini said in November that Martinez was unlikely to return this year. The California native had started since he was a redshirt freshman. In 2012, Martinez led the Big Ten in passing efficiency and rushed for 1,019 yards in leading Nebraska to the Big Ten championship game. This season, he was off to another good start, passing for nine touchdowns and one interception in the first three games before the injury. Moss played in all 12 regular-season games this season and was second on the team in sacks with 4.5. Afalva, a linebacker, played sparingly in four games. Wynne and Jackson, both wide receivers, did not have a catch this year.
