NBA roundup: Warriors extend Bogut's contract

The Golden State Warriors signed center Andrew Bogut to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Yahoo! Sports reported that the deal is a three-year extension that could reach up to $43 million with incentives.

Bogut averaged 5.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.72 blocks in 24.6 minutes over 32 regular-season games for the Warriors last season. In 12 postseason games, he averaged 7.2 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.50 blocks, while shooting 58.2 percent from the field as the Warriors reached the Western Conference semifinals.

"This is a great day for the Warriors and we're very happy to know that Andrew will be our center beyond this season as we continue to progress as a team," general manager Bob Myers said in a statement. "Andrew possesses a wide-ranging skillset that makes him a great fit alongside the other core pieces that we have assembled on our roster. He is still just 28 years old and has established himself as one of the premier centers in the NBA. He is a leader on our team and was a key part of our success during last season's playoff run."

For his career, Bogut averages 12.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.58 blocks and 32.1 minutes over 440 career regular-season games in eight seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks and Warriors.

---Jim Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers executive vice president of basketball operations, said Friday that star Kobe Bryant is not going anywhere.

Bryant, 35, is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make an NBA-high $30.5 million salary. He will be eligible for free agency next July 1.

Further complicating matters is that Bryant tore his left Achilles tendon in April and there is still no timetable on his return. The Lakers open the season Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

"I want to put an end to any speculation that we would allow Kobe to become a free agent," Buss told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "That's not going to happen. Kobe is a top priority for us. He's a Laker legend and always will be. I don't think we're done winning championships with him yet.

"(General manager) Mitch Kupchak and (Bryant's agent) Rob Pelinka have been talking, but with him being hurt, it has slowed the process some. I don't know when it'll get done, but I have faith in Rob and Mitch to work things out."

---The Minnesota Timberwolves exercised fourth-year options on guard Ricky Rubio and forward Derrick Williams.

Rubio, the fifth overall pick in 2009, has averaged 10.7 points, 7.7 assists and 2.3 steals in 98 games since joining the team in 2011-12.

Williams was the second overall pick in 2011 and has averaged 10.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 144 career games.

The Timberwolves also waived center Chris Johnson, who averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in two preseason games.

---Houston Rockets guard James Harden is day-to-day with a right knee bruise.

Harden was injured during Friday night's preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies when he was fouled by Quincy Pondexter of the Grizzlies as he hit a 3-pointer.

---Free agent point guard Jamaal Tinsley has reunited with the Utah Jazz.

Tinsley, a 10-year veteran, spent the last two seasons with the Jazz, averaging 3.6 points and 4.0 assists per game. Over his career, which also includes stints with the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies, he has averaged 8.6 points and 6.1 assists per game.

---The Orlando Magic exercised their third-year team options on forwards Maurice Harkless and Andrew Nicholson, while exercising fourth-year team options on forward Tobias Harris and center Nikola Vucevic, the team announced Saturday.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed. All four players are under contract through the 2014-15 season.

Harkless played in 76 games during his rookie season with Orlando, averaging 8.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.16 steals in 26.0 minutes.

Nicholson played in 75 games as a rookie last season, averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 16.7 minutes.

---The Memphis Grizzlies announced Saturday that they waived guard Andre Barrett and forwards Melvin Ely, Tony Gaffney and Willie Reed.

The Grizzlies' roster is down to 13 players.

---The Chicago Bulls waived center Dexter Pittman and forward D.J. White, the team announced Saturday.

The Bulls' roster is down to 13 players.

Pittman has averaged 2.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.2 minutes over 48 games with the Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies.

White has averaged 6.0 points and 3.2 rebounds in 15.4 minutes over 136 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Bobcats and Boston Celtics.

Both players signed with the Bulls Sept. 27.

---The Indiana Pacers announced Saturday they released forward-center Hilton Armstrong.

The Pacers' roster is at 14 players.

Armstrong, a first-round draft pick of the New Orleans Hornets in 2006, played there until 2010. He also played with the Sacramento Kings (2010), Houston Rockets (2010), Washington Wizards (2010-11), Atlanta Hawks (2011) and Pacers (2013). He also played in France, Greece and the NBA D-League's Santa Cruz Warriors.

---The Phoenix Suns exercised their 2014-15 options on forwards Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris, and center Miles Plumlee, the team announced Saturday.

In two seasons with the Suns, Markieff Morris has averaged 7.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 145 games. The 13th overall pick of the 2011 draft averaged 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds in April, the best scoring and rebounding month of his young career.

Marcus Morris joined the Suns in a midseason trade with Houston and averaged 5.7 points in 23 games with Phoenix last season. Originally the 14th overall pick of the 2011 draft, he led the Suns with an average of 14.3 points in seven contests at the Las Vegas Summer League.

Plumlee played his rookie season with Indiana before being acquired by the Suns in a trade this past summer. In seven contests with the Suns this preseason, Plumlee averaged 6.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.14 blocks in 18.5 minutes per game.

---The Denver Nuggets waived forward Damion James, the team announced Saturday.

James, signed as a non-roster invitee, averaged 3.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in seven preseason games for Denver. He went 8 for 23 from the field.

The move reduces the Nuggets' roster to 15 players.
