Seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady announced that he will play for the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles in the Chinese Basketball Association.
The 33-year-old played with former Chinese basketball star Yao Ming with the Houston Rockets and is well known in the country.
While the team made no announcement, McGrady posted the news on his website Tuesday, though it didn't list the terms of the deal. Chinese media reports say the one-year deal is worth at least $1 million.
McGrady said "it will be an honor" to play for the Chinese people.
---The Cleveland Cavaliers have waived guard Kevin Anderson and guard/forward Justin Holiday, general manager Chris Grant announced Wednesday.
Anderson appeared in one preseason game, scoring three points in five minutes. Holiday also appeared in one preseason game, scoring three points in 12 minutes.
--In one of their summer conversations prior to free agency, Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams told general manager Billy King not to wait Dwight Howard.
In the premiere of NBA TV's "The Association: Brooklyn Nets," King says, "One thing Deron did say to me, 'Please, just don't wait on Dwight. We can't wait and not have a team.'
"The team of Brooklyn is bigger than one person. I owed it to the organization, I owed it to our fans, I owed it to Deron and the players that we have to build for Brooklyn, and we went forward and built our team."
---The Philadelphia 76ers waived forward/center Mikki Moore and guard Xavier Silas on Wednesday.
Moore appeared in 564 games in 13 NBA seasons, averaging 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 18.2 minutes per game.
Silas was an undrafted rookie from Northern Illinois in 2011. He signed with the Sixers in April and appeared in the final two regular-season games.
