NBA roundup: Mavs-Knicks trade includes Chandler

The SportsXchange

The Dallas Mavericks acquired center Tyson Chandler and guard Raymond Felton from the New York Knicks in a trade that included six players and draft picks.

The trade cost Dallas two starters -- point guard Jose Calderon and center Samuel Dalembert -- along with point guard Shane Larkin, reserve guard Wayne Ellington and the 34th and 51st picks in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft.

Chandler, 31, was let go in free agency after the Mavs' championship run in 2011. He then signed a four-year, $60 million deal in free agency with the Knicks.

---The Sacramento Kings officially extended a qualifying offer to point guard Isaiah Thomas, making him a restricted free agent, the team announced Wednesday.

The Kings made the $1.1 million qualifying offer to retain refusal rights.

Thomas, a three-year NBA veteran, has accrued averages of 15.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.03 steals per game through 216 outings (started 153 games) with Sacramento after being selected No. 60 overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

---Forward Nick Young, coming off the best season of his career, told the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday that he is declining the player option on his contract in order to become a free agent.

Young averaged a career-high and team-leading 17.9 points plus 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 64 games last season, starting nine times. He twice came off the bench to score at least 40 points, and his 18.8-point scoring average as a reserve was the best in the NBA.

Young spent one year with the Lakers, his fourth team in the past four seasons. A first-round pick of the Wizards in 2007, Young remained in Washington until the 2010-11 season, which he split between the Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers. He then played 2012-13 with the Philadelphia 76ers before joining the Lakers.

---Brooklyn Nets forward Alan Anderson is planning to opt out of the second year of his contract and test free agency next month, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Anderson, 31, came to the Nets as a free agent last summer after spending parts of the previous two seasons with the Toronto Raptors. He played in 78 regular-season games, averaging 7.2 points and shooting 34 percent from 3-point range before averaging 5.9 points in the 12 playoff games.
