Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade was ruled out of Friday's critical game against the Indiana Pacers because he is still nursing a hamstring injury.

Wade has missed the Heat's last eight games because of the injury. That includes Wednesday's loss at the Memphis Grizzlies. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said earlier this week that Wade is close to returning but acknowledged Friday that his status changed.

Wade injured his left hamstring during the fourth quarter of the Heat's 84-83 loss to the Pacers on March 26. He is averaging 19.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 51 games this season.

Hudson was hospitalized in Atlanta after having a stroke in March. He also suffered a stroke in 2005 and campaigned for the "Power to End Stroke" organization.

Hudson, nicknamed "Sweet Lou," averaged 20.2 points per game during his 13-year NBA career. The six-time All-Star spent the first 11 years of his career with the Hawks and finished with the Los Angeles Lakers. He retired in 1979. The Hawks retired Hudson's No. 23 jersey. He is one of three Hawks, including Bob Pettit and Dominique Wilkins, to receive the honor.

---Los Angeles Lakers guard Xavier Henry had season-ending surgeries Friday to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist and the cartilage abnormality in his right knee.

Dr. Steve Shin performed the wrist surgery while and Dr. Steve Lombardo operated on the knee at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. The Lakers said Henry is expected to make a full recovery by the beginning of training camp later this year.

Henry averaged career-highs with 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 21.1 minutes in 43 games.

---The New Orleans Pelicans called up forward James Southerland from the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League on Friday.

Southerland is averaging 14.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 28.6 minutes in 42 with the D-Fenders this season. He played one game with the Charlotte Bobcats earlier this season. Southerland signed with the Pelicans on Thursday.
