NBA roundup: Griffin will have knee surgery
Clippers forward Blake Griffin will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair a torn medial meniscus.
Griffin was injured last week during a Team USA practice in Las Vegas. An MRI exam the next day revealed the injury, the Clippers confirmed.
Griffin is expected to be ready for training camp in October but will miss the 2012 Olympic Games in London with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
"We're relieved that this does not affect Blake's ability to be ready in time for training camp," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said in a statement last week. "Missing out on the Olympic experience will be tough for him to take. I know how dedicated he was to doing that. We're glad we can get this fixed now and take advantage of the available time for him to fully recover."
Griffin was replaced Thursday on the Team USA roster by Hornets rookie Anthony Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA draft in June.
USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said Griffin's knee injury was related to the postseason injury, saying Thursday Griffin declined the option to have his knee scoped in May.

Davis, chosen first overall in June by the New Orleans Hornets, finalized an endorsement deal with Nike.
The 2011-12 college basketball player of the year, Davis already has a "Nike Swoosh Unibrow" print for sale.
In June, Davis filed for trademarks of multiple unibrow phrases which began at Kentucky last season, including 'Fear the Brow.'
--The Raptors traded forward James Johnson to the Sacramento Kings for a second-round pick in 2014.
Johnson is owed $2.8 million in the final year of his contract for the upcoming season.
The Raptors acquired Johnson, the 16th pick in the 2009 draft, from the Bulls on Feb. 22, 2011.
--- The New York Knicks announced on Monday they've acquired point guard Raymond Felton in a sign-and-trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, a deal that had been reported earlier.
However, the Knicks did not say whether they have made a decision on whether to match Jeremy Lin's three-year, $25.1 million offer sheet from theHouston Rockets or to let the point guard walk. They have 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday night to decide.
--The Charlotte Bobcats were awarded center Brendan Haywood off waivers from Dallas. The 11-year veteran will be under contract for only one season at $2.05 million but is guaranteed the full value of his previous deal with the Mavericks.
Haywood was waived by the Mavericks using amnesty provision that forces teams to pay the remainder of a player's contract while keeping it off the books for salary cap and luxury tax purposes.
Haywood had a salary of $8.3 million for 2012 and is owed more than $27 million over the next three seasons by Dallas.
---The Atlanta Hawks announced on Monday what had been reported earlier - that they have acquired forward Kyle Korver from the Chicago Bulls in exchange
for cash considerations.
Korver averaged 8.1 points for Chicago last season and made 43.5 percent of his 3-point shots.
