Center Marcus Camby will have left foot surgery this week after the Houston Rockets release him, agent Rick Kaplan told Yahoo Sports.

Kaplan said Camby will be waived by the Rockets on Monday and could return in a coaching or scouting capacity while rehabilitating, which is expected to sideline him two to three months.

Kaplan said Camby's plantar fascia injury has been bothering him since last season with the New York Knicks and regrets not having surgery then. Kaplan said Camby, 39, still wants to continue his NBA career following surgery.

"He definitely still has a thirst to play," Kaplan said.

The Chicago Bulls had interest in Camby in the offseason, a source said. Kaplan doesn't expect him to be claimed off waivers.

Camby is the second-oldest player in the NBA behind Lakers point guard Steve Nash. Camby averaged 1.8 points and 3.3 rebounds last season for New York.
